چکیده

Abstract Introduction The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the skeletal, dentoalveolar soft-tissue effects 2 fixed functional appliance; Forsus Fatigue Resistance Device (FFRD) PowerScope appliance in treating patients with skeletal class II division 1 malocclusion. Materials Methods This comparative prospective two-group included 20 a mean age 11.2 ± 1.6 years malocclusion retrognathic mandible. One group treated FFRD, second appliance. Lateral cephalograms were evaluated at T1 (pre-functional treatment)) T2 (postappliance treatment). Cephalometric values calculated assessed changes. Changes in soft tissue profile using functional appliances in the treatment of skeletal class II malocclusion.

INTRODUCTION The effects of orthodontic treatment are considered to be successful if the facial harmony is achieved, while the structures of soft tissue profile are in harmony with skeletal structures of neurocranium and viscerocranium. In patients with skeletal distal bite caused by mandibular retrognathism, facial esthetics is disturbed often, in terms of pronounced convexity of the profile a...

Treatment of a skeletal Class II malocclusion using fixed functional appliance with miniplate anchorage

Based on our literature search, we found that the use of miniplate anchorage with Forsus fatigue-resistance device (FRD) has not yet been reported. Therefore, the aim of the present case report was to present the treatment of a patient with skeletal Class II malocclusion with mandibular retrusion using Forsus FRD with miniplate anchorage. Fixed appliances with 0.022-inch slots were attached to ...

Correction of Skeletal Class II Malocclusion using Functional-Fixed Appliance Therapy

Single-phase treatment started during late mixed dentition using functional followed by fixed appliance therapy has proven to be the most effective approach to achieve correction of Class II malocclusion. This case report demonstrates the use of this treatment approach in an 11-year-old girl with skeletal and dental Class II malocclusion, large overjet, deep overbite, increased incisor exposure...

comparative assessment of soft-tissue changes in class ii division 1 patients following extraction and non-extraction treatment

background: the extraction of teeth for orthodontic purpose has always been a controversial subject in the speciality. the aesthetics impact of the soft-tissue profile might play a key role in deciding on premolar extraction or non-extraction (ne) treatment, particularly in borderline patients. the purpose of this cephalometric study was to examine the soft-tissue treatment effects of class ii ...
